Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy
Can complement and even replace drugs or surgery by manipulating muscles and joints through stretching, gentle pressure, and resistance
Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, or OMT, is a set of hands-on techniques used by osteopathic physicians (D.O.s) to restore motion to all parts of the body and help regain healthy function. Through the manipulation of joints, muscles, and spine, our D.O.s can affect the body’s nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems.
Our Born Clinic D.O.s use stretching, gentle pressure, and resistance in specific regions on the body to help:
- Treat structural and tissue abnormalities
- Relieve joint restriction and misalignment
- Restore muscle and tissue balance
- Improve blood flow
In our clinical experience, OMT is successful at increasing overall mobility and can complement–and even replace–drugs or surgery. Most commonly used to treat pain in the lower back, neck, shoulder, and knees, OMT can also help patients with other health complications, including:
- Asthma
- Sinus disorders
- Arthritis
- Migraines
- Menstrual pain
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
